Berlin in the Winter

Credits and certificate

Participants will receive 5 ECTS credit points and a certificate if they attend classes regularly (at least 80% attendance) and participate actively. Additionally, six weeks after the end of the course a Transcript of Records is issued by Humboldt-Universität.

Description

This course is specifically designed for those who are primarily seeking instruction in the German language. The course takes place four times a week and can additionally be combined with an English content course. The course is suitable for participants who also like to discover Berlin on their own. Weekly we offer extra cultural and social activities.

Course structure

The language course comprises a total of 45 hours and takes place four times a week. The participants will be placed in different groups according to their results in the placement test on the first course day.
 

Schedule (Track A):

Monday & Friday: 9.00 am – 10.30 am & 11.00 am – 12.30 pm

Tuesday: 5.05 pm – 6.35 pm & 6.45 pm – 7.30 pm

Thursday: 1.30 pm – 3 pm & 3.20 pm – 4.50 pm

 

Components of the language lessons are:

  • Grammar
  • Conversation
  • Writing
  • Listening and reading comprehension
  • Pronunciation

This language course can be combined with a subject course held in English.

 

Cultural extra-curricular activities:

Your program includes excursions, sport activities and social gatherings providing you the opportunity to get to know the city, the university and your classmates better and to meet students from all parts of the world. The costs for these offers are included in the course fees.

Activities and tours we offer regularly: Federal Chancellery, German Parliament, House of Representatives, Topography of Terror, Political Archive, Museum Island, Kreuzberg Tour, Daytrip to Potsdam, Ice Skating, Exhibitions, Farewell Party…

Student Profile

This course is specifically designed for those who are primarily seeking instruction in the German language.

Students without previous knowledge of German can participate in the course as well as students of German from elementary level (A1/ A2)  to upper intermediate level (B2).

Participants must be at least 18 years old.

TBA - Qualified language teachers

The lecturers all have academic degrees and international teaching experience. In the varied teaching sessions they are highly committed to the learning progress of the students.
