Accommodation and Meals
HUWISU offers student apartments for rent for the duration of most courses*.
The rent for a single room in our student apartments is 375 euros.
During Summer Session III (August 18th-29th) we offer single rooms for 220 euros.
A deposit of 50 euros has to be paid in cash upon arrival**.
Due to the great demand, the option of booking a room in our student apartments is unfortunately no longer available. This affects our Session 2 running from July 21st until August 15th.

The allocation of free spots in the student apartments is done in accordance with the first-come, first-served principle.

Session I (June 16th - July 11th, 2014)
Check-in: Saturday, June 14th and Sunday, June 15th from 11am - 9pm
Course "Global Cities as Centers of Knowledge Production"
(June 23rd - July 11th, 2014)
Check-in: Sunday, June 22nd from 12pm - 8pm)
Session I (Master module: June 30th - July 11th, 2014)
Check-in: Sunday, June 29th from 12pm - 8pm (check-in would already be possible as of June 14th; in this case please inform the HUWISU team before your arrival)
Session II (July 21st - August 14th, 2014)
Check-in: Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th from 11am - 9pm
Session III (August 18th - 29th, 2014)
Check-in: Sunday, August 17th from 12pm - 8pm
It is not possible to move into the apartments outside these hours. Unfortunately we are not able to make any exceptions!

Summer Session 2014
Check-out will be on the weekend after the course(s) end(s) between 7am - 2pm. Check-out for Session III courses will only be possible on Saturday, August 30th between 7am - 2pm.
The apartments are situated at Sewanstraße 241 – 259, 10319 Berlin.
The apartments are completely furnished with two or three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Two or three participants share an apartment. Each participant has his/ her own bedroom, but other facilities in the apartment are shared by the participants. As a rule people of the same sex live together.
You can find the following items in the apartment:
- Bed linen
- Dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils
- Coffee machine
- Vacuum cleaner (in some apartments)
- Coin-operated washing machines and dryers in a separate laundry room in the building
What won't you find in the apartment:
- Telephone and internet
- Towels and dish cloths
- TV (only in some apartments)
How to get to Humboldt-Universität
The apartments are only five minutes from the U5 subway station "Tierpark". From there, the subway needs 20 minutes to reach Alexanderplatz. All in all, you will need about 35 minutes to reach Humboldt-Universität.
Close to the apartment building you can find two supermarkets, a shopping mall with grocery stores, small restaurants, two banks and a pharmacy.
Just a few minutes walk from the apartment block you can find several doctors, dentists and an internet café where you can purchase prepaid calling cards.

If you prefer not to rent the apartments offered by us, you can also choose to book a room in a hotel or hostel in the city.
The university’s dining hall offers reasonably-priced lunch (approximately 3 Euro per meal).
** You will receive your deposit in cash only in the event of a flawless inspection of your room during the regular check-out times.
In case of early departure we kindly ask you to inform us about your bank details within four weeks after the end of your course. The deposit will be transferred to your account given that everything is in order after the room inspection.
